It is important for additional support sessions to meet the needs of the individual pupil, and so the contents of the tuition programme are discussed fully with pupils and parents (where appropriate) beforehand. The objectives of any additional support will closely match assessment outcomes and subsequent recommendations. This enables support that is specialist and personalised, which allows utilisation of strengths to overcome difficulties.
Examples of areas covered include:
- reading practise and progress
- spelling
- extended writing (including planning and proofing)
- creative writing
- using technology effectively
- ordering mathematical operations
- revision skills
- memory strategies
- organisation strategies
